Lagoon 2007

August 16th, we went to Lagoon with my parents for Franklin's Lagoon Day. The kids got in free with my mom, so Shane and I bought tickets for the day. The kids had a lot of fun in the short amount of time we were there. Sarah's favorite ride was the Bat. Chandler's favorite ride was the Wicked Roller Coaster. I loved the Wicked too - it was a huge thrill! Here are a couple of pictures from our adventure - it's so hard to take photos.

Flaming Gorge

We just got back from Flaming Gorge. It was a short trip, but we had fun. We went with Shane's sister, Denise, her husband, Eric and their kids, Courtney (13), Caleb (8) and Madison (4).






















On Friday, we went to the Guest Ranch where we were going to stay for the night and then we drove down to Flaming Gorge to do some fishing. The kids had more fun catching crawfish than the brown trout or small mouth bass that we could see swimming around. The fish that we saw at the lake were little and they would just steal part of the worm and swim away.




On Saturday morning we drove back to Flaming Gorge Resort, where we had rented a 9 man raft for the day. We drove back to the bottom of the dam where we put the boat in and floated down the Green River for 7 miles from Flaming Gorge Dam to Little Hole. It's a slow river at that point and we did a LOT of paddling (my arms are so tired). There were a few rapids; if you could call them rapids, maybe you could call them fasters (slightly faster than the river). The kids had so much fun, they got so excited when they would see the white caps coming up and we'd try to paddle us into it so the kids could experience the bumps. Sometimes we'd just end up high centered on a rock. It was really windy at some points which made it pretty tough paddling against the wind - sometimes we felt like we were going back upstream. There were hundreds of fish in the river, we could not believe how many and how big they were - much larger than the fish we saw in the lake. There were tons of fly fishermen - floating in the their little boats, or wadding in their neoprene wadders. With as many fish as we saw, it must be a popular place to fish. Three and a half hours later, sore muscles and all, we arrived at Little Hole and pulled the boat out. We had considered taking a second trip down the river, but the adults were feeling worn out and we decided we better just get the boat back and head home. Now that I'm home and have looked at our photos, I'm disappointed that I didn't get a photo of our family together and I didn't get very many photos - but I've posted a few for you to see. Guess that doesn't matter to the kids, they still say that they had a lot of fun!

14 years later...

On July 27th, I went to dinner with some of my high school friends. I haven't seen most of them since my wedding. I was excited when Muriel found my info and sent me an invitation to dinner with Stephanie, Marci, Kim, Suzie, Lyndi and Muriel. It was a great evening; it was hard to keep up with all of the info going around the table. Well, I hope to keep in better touch with everyone. It was incredible to think we are all moms now and in our thirties - wow. (update - check out link at right for Long Lost Friends blog)

I thought I would post a couple of my favorite photos of Chandler and Sarah. My good friend from BYU, Michelle Willis, (http://www.edreamphotography.com/) took our photos down at Thanksgiving Point last November and I have just loved them.
